Hilary is exploring the concept of belonging. What makes some thing or some one belong? She is looking at the way in which time changes the things that man creates. The resulting landscape is one that is familiar to us, which we have an empathy with and to which we might say we belong. You, the observer, should feel a sense of identification or belonging but at the same time you should be intrigued by the depth and dimension so that you want to look into (or perhaps to touch) her work.

The images she uses are drawn directly from her photographs of the countryside around her home in the West Midlands or from family holidays around Great Britain.
